"I was deeply impressed with the context of this children's book. The story line for the young character reflects what a majority of military children feel and think daily when their parent is away. From a therapist's point of view, I feel that this will be very helpful to children to cope with the separation from their parent, as well as providing a tool for parents to use. Therapists can also benefit from this wonderful book. I will be applying my copy in my practice when needed."

Dear Lisa,

I would like to take this opportunity to give my encouragement to you on
your publication of "My First Deployment."

I was very impressed with Allie in the story and her feelings about her
dad leaving. So often there can be confusion for children when a parent
goes far away for, what to a child is, a long time. I shared your book
with our school nurse, whose husband is deployed to Afghanistan. They
have three daughters in our school. She asked if she
could read it in her office. When she returned it to me, I could sense
she had been deeply touched by the story.

Your work will be prominently displayed with other
"new arrivals" where patrons entering our library
may easily view it and look through it.

It is my hope that it is shared within families as long as we have
military personnel deployed anywhere in the world.

Thank you,
